About BeforeApply
What is BeforeApply?
BeforeApply analyzes how well your background matches a job description. You get honest feedback on where you're a strong fit, where you fall short, and whether it's worth applying.
How does it work?
Paste a job description and share your background (CV upload, LinkedIn URL, or text). The AI compares both and gives you a fit assessment: strengths, gaps, and an overall recommendation.
Is BeforeApply free?
Assessments are always free for job seekers. Companies can use BeforeApply widgets on their career pages with paid plans.
How accurate is the assessment?
The AI evaluates job fit similarly to how a recruiter reviews an application. It won't predict whether you'll get an interview, but it helps you make informed decisions about where to focus. Think of it as an honest second opinion.
Privacy & Data
Can employers see that I used BeforeApply?
No. Your assessments are completely private. Companies have no way to know you evaluated their job posting, and they never see your results or any of your data.
What do you do with my CV/resume?
Your CV is processed to generate the assessment. If you create an account, your profile is encrypted and stored so you can reuse it. Results are also saved so you can review them later. You can delete all your data at any time from your privacy settings.
Do you sell my data?
No. We don't sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Our business model is the product, not your data.
Can I delete my data?
Yes. You can request complete deletion of your account and all associated data at any time. The deletion is processed within 30 days, giving you time to change your mind if needed.

What kind of jobs can I assess?
BeforeApply works with any job posting from any industry. Whether you're applying for software engineering, marketing, finance, healthcare, or any other field, our AI can analyze the fit.
Do I need to create an account?
No. You can run assessments without an account. Creating one lets you save your history and reuse your profile across assessments.
What if I disagree with the assessment?
Trust your judgment. The assessment is one data point, not a verdict. If you believe you're a strong fit, apply. You know your experience better than any AI.
Can I use BeforeApply for internal job changes?
Yes. Paste the internal job posting and run an assessment like any other role.
Technical Questions
What file formats do you accept for CV upload?
We accept PDF, DOC, and DOCX files up to 5MB. For best results, use a standard format without complex graphics or tables.
What AI technology do you use?
We use OpenAI's GPT models via their API. Per OpenAI's API data usage policy, API data is not used to train their models.
Is my data used to train AI models?
No. We use AI providers that don't train on API data. Your CV and personal information stay private.
